Introduction to IIMC - Indian Institute of Mass Communication
The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), an internationally-known centre for training and research in mass communication, was started in 1965. This autonomous body funded by the Ministry of Information and Broadcast¬ing, Govt, of India. IIMC offers Post¬graduate Diploma Course in Journalism (English and Hindi), Advertising and Public Relations and Radio and TV jour¬nalism. The institute's Orissa Branch at Dhenkanal offers Post-graduate Diploma Course in Journalism in oriya.
IIMC admits students on the basis of an All-India Entrance Examination and personal interview. The candidates with a Bachelor's degree in any discipline are elgible to apply. The Institute has well-equipped studios and other facilities for practical training . The Institute has the largest specialised library in the field of mass communication in India with over 25,000 books.
